Horizontal centrifuges are easy to operate, efficient and low in energy consumption. The drying process is made possible by a heavy-duty rotor mounted inside, equipped with replaceable blades and screens. The centrifuge rotor carries the material through the unit from the inlet side to the outlet port, and rotating at high speed, effectively centrifuges it from the water. The impurities and dirty water are then ejected through a screen with holes and collected in a discharge hopper. The configuration of the rotor and screen in combination with the speed determines the cleaning efficiency and residual moisture content of the material.

In plastics recycling, mechanical drying by centrifugation is more effective than thermal drying. Centrifuges in the recycling process are devices that allow to obtain adequate humidity of the shredded material (even up to 5% for films and 2% for hard plastics) ensuring its effective centrifugation from water and allowing its further processing on extruders in the granulation process.
